Can you work as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist and as an RN?

I am currently a sopre in high school and plan to go to a local community college to get my ociate degree in Medical Technology to be a Technician before I get my Bachelor's. I was planing on becoming a physician, Cardiologist actually, but I like biology and lab work more than I would working as a physician. But since I want some type of patient contact I was wondering if someone could do both a 2 yr MT program and a 2 yr RN program to work as a RN and a Lab Technician(before I get my bachelor's in MT). Has anyone done this?
