Cost to directly wire a car stereo so I can plug my ipod into it?

I would like to be able to plug my ipod via cord to my car's stereo and not have to use a radio transmitter... the best of which are still pretty full of static. The electronic store in my town said they can do it but want to charge a fee to just check it out! My car is a '99 Honda CR-V and has an unknown model pioneer cd player that I had put in. Thanks
