Does he like me?????

There are soooo many questions like this but idk how else to go about it so I need some advice. O.K. theres this guy(of course lol) that I like BUT I don't know if he even cares about my existence. Well, to start I didn't really care about this guy until recently. I'm in high school(9th grade), and therefore we had to do benchmark testing in which we are igned to rooms in alphabetical order. He sat right in front of me and out of boredom we began talking. Afterwards we still kinda talked, I would say hello and he would immediately start talking to me. As time went on though, we began to drift apart. Well he did. We wave to each other occasionally but thats about it, he doesn't come and actually talk to me anymore. I still wanna talk with him, but i'm extremely shy so if he doesn't want to pursue on anything else but a wave hello, we don't talk. On the bus he has a bunch of friends to talk to so I'm kinda left in the dust. Its weird though sometimes he looks like he wants to talk to me but doesn't. I have crippling shyness and so its hard for me to say anything(its not something I can get rid of easily)... ugh! I don't know what to do..is this a helpless cause? how can I turn it around?
